This SOLIDWORKS tutorial by GoEngineer shows how to prepare a 3MF file for full-color 3D printing, such as the Stratasys line of PolyJet 3D printers.
With GrabCAD Print slicing software, it is now possible to implement colors, textures, and decals into a 3D model using the newly supported 3MF file format.
However, SOLIDWORKS is not able to export out decals and colors natively into 3MF (as of December 2020), so this tutorial shares some methods for how to fix that by using Paint3D which also can author and edit 3MF files, a native Windows 10 application as well as the pros and cons of this methodology when preparing a SOLIDWORKS model for full-color 3D printing.
